Hi there! My name is Zhivko Illeieff (Bulgarian American) and I am a progressive writer/media maker. The Melt Age is a place to share my own work, as well as collaborations and interviews, outside of paywalls. If you enjoy The Melt Age you can subscribe to its newsletter and get (very occasional) updates.
In 2010, I worked with a team to produce “Faces of Communism,” a documentary featuring first-hand accounts of totalitarian rule in Bulgaria. Previously, I worked at Appalshop (Whitesburg, Kentucky) where I created content that voiced the concerns of Appalachians and rural America. A show I hosted on Appalshop’s WMMT 88.7 community radio station featured local musicians, organizers, and small business owners who took to the airwaves to express their opinions on various topics and play their favorite music. I am currently working on a public-serving directory for progressive commentators in the U.S.
